This is so exciting...to read all about many of you and to share a bit of me since we last left off. I'm terribly sorry that I missed this event. I had a dream about a month ago, something about an addition into the parking at the school--which we did not use--and then I added 40 years from our graduate date and oy, there it was, 2005. But I hear that we are planning a 41st reunion--rather unprecedented in the reunion business--- but, nevertheless, I'm in for sure. I graduated the U. of Cincinnati in '69, lived in NYC where I worked at CBS Evening News, then sold photographers and commercial film companies services to Madison Ave. ad agencies, got involved with a feature film, then assembled an off-(way-off)Off Broadway play--a satire on the Borschet Belt. I tripped around Manhattan wearing only yellow and white while hanging with swamis and other holy and holey men, eating only vegetarian but strangely played smashmouth football in Central park where I broke my shoulder and had a woman named Rainbow--really--come into my life. She had started the first vegan co-op in Haight-Ashbury (when it was The Haight), and helped found the Rainbow People's Party in Oregon while ending the Vietnam War almost single-handledly. I knew this would be a ride. We moved to Seattle, did some interesting things there, then back to NYC in the early 80's---a very hazy time indeed. We were trying to raise her daughter there, eventually had our own daughter, Laya, and moved to rural Michigan (better to read about it than to live it!) where I reviewed movies for the Greenville Daily News. I then ran a repertory movie theatre in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where we would live for 20 long years--a true desert experience. I performed media work for a large automotive supplier and then was able to secure The Kelloggs Company to sponsor a literacy and film program that I had presented at the movie theatre years earlier and I now took it to large urban school districts around the country. We had a second child, Maxx to go along with his older sister and, as they grew my soul clamored for its own re-birth which then led to stints with christianity, chabad-ism(?) and an eventual life in Israel, Jerusalem to be precise, where we currently live--and love. If I may propose here that the next reunion--next year I believe I heard--happen here in Jerusalem, the most beautiful city on earth (don't believe what you read in the papers). This will be good for our class's collective minds and souls and wonderful for Jewish and non-Jewish people. Thank you for getting this far to those of you who have and blessings on everyone.

I regret missing the last 2 reunions, but got a feel for the great fun enjoyed through the pictures (we all know who the "ringers" were!) I tried to make it but it's a long story - thanks for your help Hal and Barb! Hopefully I've been removed from the "missing" list. Just a quick rundown as I wasn't there to fill you in. After Annapolis and driving Navy ships for a few years and Rutgers Business School, I did the big company scene in Chicago, New Orleans, Philadelphia, San Francisco, San Diego, and a few dreadful rural spots. Retired early, got bored, and returned to Human Resources consulting in D.C. working with the Executive Branch, which is my current gig. I'll probably work until I die unless I run into a nice, intelligent lady to take world cruises with, who can also put up with my libertine ways. I've traveled a bit, like to Nepal, India, and Israel on soul searching missions - and to Vegas - to unwind. I plan on doing alot more traveling in the future, God willing. I loved CHS (and SOJH). Baseball, football, the challenging and fun academics, and of course the intelligent, gorgeous young ladies I was too shy to pursue. That changed and changed again. Hope to be frisky enough to make the next reunion - I guess they are every ten years? 4301 S. 16th St. #2 Arlington, VA. 22204

What a wonderful weekend of memories! Renewing old friendsips and even making new ones (we DID have a big class (not to metion "the best"! The reunion made me reflect on the people who had a very definite influence on who I am today. Both wonderful, bitersweet, and some sad memories all contributed to unforgettable moments for me. I know I am being redundant in expressing my gratitude to Tommy, Hal, and Ellen, but without them, nothing of this caliber would ever have come to fruition. Love & hugs to all....be well, safe & stay in touch!!! xxoo ellen

Reconnecting with classmates across 40 years plus, indeed 53 years of time, was interesting and heartwarming. For me, attending the reunion was an act of courage, curiosity and comfort; an accounting of various life phases in what has become a most intriguing journey. The reunion was more than a chance to recall high school days and to catch up to the present. It was also an opportunity to share vintage K-6 photos and memories from Fielding, Maplewood Jr. High and Columbia, through a kaliedescope of perspectives, from then until now. To all of you, thanks for the memories and the chance to look bacward together and also to look forward to the next reunion.

Thank you to Hal & Tommy & all the people who made this such an elegant reunion! Not only was the food delish (though I was gabbing so much, I didn't get to have my money's worth) and plentiful (a cornucopia appropriate to this thanksgiving time of year) and the venue classy (tho I distinctly remember it being blatantly anti-Semitic in the mid-sixties...), but the Reunion party was truly FUN. Seeing how everybody looks, speed-chatting to find out what everybody's been up to, etcetera -- a total blast. I personally found the experience to be also very revealing/meaningful/significant: I was able to connect some dots from my adolescence, to understand better why I/we am/are the way I/we am/are and was/were. I also got to (finally) appreciate the rich beauty of the trees, the homes, the community of Maplewood/South Orange. Continue being cute, everybody!

I did not know what to expect last week. I am sure that you all wondered the same thing. I was overwhelmed by the sheer pleasure of uncovering a treasure trove of memories evoked by the warm greetings of so many of you. I have encountered both personally and professionally many people over the years. Yet, there are very few with whom I can share the memories of the joy and angst of growing up. It was particularly poignant to share the memories of our parents many of whom are now deceased as are mine. A special thanks to Hal, Tommy, Audrey, Ellen, Alan (and son) and everyone else who put themselves out to give us all a wonderful experience. I wish everyone continued love, health and prosperity.

The weekend was a blast, a real trip down memory lane. Only wish I had had more time to speak with more people. There were plenty of old friends to whom I barely got a chance to say anything more than "hello", which is a seems like a corny thing to say to someone whom you haven't seen in 40 years. I know my father and brother appreciated the dropins by Alan Dubrow, Hal Kaufman and Andy Feinstein at separate times during the weekend. We were really blessed as youngsters. How much we appreciated that then is hard to know. Be well and let's stay in touch

I just showed my wife, Nancy, the photos that Hal posted. Her comments in no particular order: 1. You are more interested in these than you were in the photos from any of the kid's bar mitzvahs or weddings. 2. Your guy friends look old and grey. (Sorry Hal, Andy, etc.) 3. Hal looks good, although I would not have recognized him. (Referring to Harold Garwin who fixed Nancy and I up in 1969) 4. That one - he's really cute - referring to John Dios (John always was competition -- see yearbook page 101) 5. The girls look much better than the guys. 6. No you won't. (Said in response to pointing out Michelle Orwin who works one block from me in DC and who I told I will take to lunch.)

Sorry if you missed this night!! This was better than Desperate Housewives!! It was a wonderful, surreal experience!! I must say, our class looked great, and seems very content. What more can we ask for? After Saturday night, I am still trying to explain to my husband why getting older IS getting better! Thank you Hal (you look great) and Tommy (you're pretty cute too) Audrey, Ellen, Alan's genius son, and whoever else helped!! It was an amazing feat! The setting was superb, the food was just perfect, especially the hor d'oeuvres. The band was great and you could retreat to other rooms for a quiet interlude. Ellen, you did a great job with the handout. Thank you for your efforts. I will never forget the excitement of seeing old friends after 40 years. It brought back so many fond memories. Thank you everyone for one fabulous night!!

Sunday was quieter and I could hear more, but missed some people I didn't get to talk w/ Sat who weren't there on Sunday. I can't wait 10 years for the next one. How about 2010? Thanks so much everyone. No clicks, just a bunch of peole comfortable w/ themselves and each other. Been there, done that, I'm OK, you're OK.

So much fun to see everyone and to catch up. I was especially happy to talk to so many people from Tuscan School days. (by coincidence I met another Tuscan alum at a dinner I came back to on Sunday night!). After high school I really enjoyed college at Brandeis. I felt a part of it like I never had felt part of CHS. Went to Europe for the summer after sophomore year where I met (and fell in love with)Christina at a youth hostel. We corresponded, traveled back and forth and got married in 1970. Did leather work for a year to earn a living (sandals, belts, vests, hats etc) and then moved to Sweden for a year so Christina could finish school. Came back and worked for the Division of Drug Rehabilitation in MA on evaluating the effectiveness of drug treatment programs. From there went back to school for an MFA (School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Tufts) in painting and printmaking while working part time at Software Arts (they invented VisiCalc). That job grew to full time as I painted less and less. Software Arts was bought by Lotus where I got very much into quality programs, large spreadsheets and diversity in the workplace. Lotus was bought by IBM in 1995 or 6 and I've been in Human Resources/Talent/Diversity at IBM since then. Jason was born in 1979 and is finishing school now in engineering. Johanna was born in 1981 and just graduated in anthropology and is looking for work. My dad and mom, whom many of you know, are 91 and 87 and doing quite well so I guess I better start planning for the next 35 years or so. It is great to still have them. We see my sister Leslie and my brother Ivan often (some of you have siblings their age I know) but my brother Steve died of Leukemia in 1993 at 40.

My motor mouth has finally stopped long enough for me to breathe, and to reflect on the fun I had on Sat. night and at the brunch, and here's my theory -- we are old enough now to have lost parents, had children move out, gone through job upheavals and divorces and whatever, not to mention 9/11 and other stuff -- and perhaps we have all figured out that we're all on the same trip, it's a short one, and it's time to learn how to be kinder to each other. I'd love to hear from anybody I talked to at Reunion -- and anyone who couldn't make it who'd like to catch up. I also think that this committee should run the Reunion from now on -- since this was clearly the best one! Love to all -- Mel White

Uh-oh, I think I missed the festivities and would love to catch up in 2015. Can we do it? Till then, you’re all invited to fiesta in Santa Fe, where I’ve been rooted in an older-than-us adobe house since 1975, raising children, vegetables, and books. My sons -- Jordi, a 32-year-old learning disabilities specialist and violinist in Chicago, and Dev, a 30-year-old sustainable architect and watercolorist in Seattle – are both married, so now I have spectacular daughters-in-law too. The veggies, well, they’ve been eaten, at least till next summer. The books, on the other hand, are ongoing. After working as an editor in book publishing for 15 years, and then as managing editor of Mothering Magazine for 10 more years, I started my own company, Blessingway Authors’ Services (blessingway.com), where I’ve been happily pledged to indentured servitude for the past 12 years. Do come visit … there’s a hammock in the backyard and lemonade in the fridge. (Ph: 505-983-2649)

And now, the blurb: I have lived in Brooklyn Heights for 31 years with husband Jack Levin, an attorney and writer. We have 2 children and a 17-month-old grandson. After many years as a professional artist affliliated with galleries in Brooklyn and SoHO, a teacher of drug abuse awareness to grade school kids and literacy to homeless adults, and the author of a children's book, "A Rosh Hashanah Walk", I have become an historian. I am currently documenting Kane Street Synagogue's 150 years with archivres and personal accounts, and will produce a symposium on Brooklyn Jewry in March 2006.

Here’a quick rundown. After CHS went to Rutgers in New Brunswick and shared a couple of old rundown houses there with Jim Gerstenzang. At least one of them was condemned and demolished immediately after we left. Then NYU School of Medicine, followed by a year wandering around Europe and North Africa, then a research residency in psychiatry / pharmacology at NYU and Bellevue. NYU has been good to me so I’ve stayed there and have been heading up a research group that studies disorders associated with dopamine dysfunction – schizophrenia, movement disorders, addiction and ADHD. I’m married to Marilyn DeLuca, the love of my life, she’s a critical care nurse who moved into hospital and medical systems management, then went on to get a PhD in public administration and now does health care consulting. We have a 26 year old daughter, Jen, also the love of my life, who is at Columbia in the MPH program,. And two big dogs, a yellow one and a red one, and we love them too. We live in a very old house in the Gramercy-Stuyvesant area. We like to travel a lot. My folks are remarkably healthy, they moved to NY quite a while ago and share their time between the city and Amagansett. My sister and brother are also well, both married with kids, Jeanie lives in Tenafly, Danny in Chevy Chase. Look forward to seeing you all.

So sorry I can't make it this weekend. Will miss you all. I'm a fiction writer living in Ridgefield, Connecticut. One of my novels (Sleep, Baby, Sleep) became an ABC movie which was terrific fun. Many more people watch TV movies than read books, I discovered. I've just published a memoir, Writing in Chocolate, about a year I spent working in a chocolate shop and everyone should go on Amazon and buy it and tell their friends to buy it and then maybe I'll finally get famous and everyone who is CHS 65 will be able to say they knew me when. I've been married since a week after I graduated from college, I have two daughters who I admire and respect, a granddaughter, and another grandchild expected any second. Anyway, after UVA and then transferring to Boston University, I moved to L.A. and have been here ever since. Met Eve 33 years ago here in L.A.  It's impossible! Can't tell any of the folks at work, they're almost all at least ten years my junior. Work by the way is Lebenthal, an AXA Financial Business soon to be swallowed up by Merrill Lynch where hopefully I'll retain my title, VP! Graduated from Temple University then NYU and taught in New York City before the change in career which may explain why I married for the first time at the ripe old age of 38 Dr. William Wasserstrom a neurologist. We have a beautiful daughter Cara, who will be 16 years old and driving in just a few short months so stay off the roads in and around the area of North Brunswick New Jersey where we have lived for the past 20 years! Cara is the love of our lives, of course,a true Renaissance Woman in the making, who attends Rutgers Preparatory School. Didn't think I would attend, but thanks to Janice Raab Tully's coaxing, who I haven't seen in 17 years, I'd love to come with my $100 dollar check in hand of course least 17 years been close with since age 13, couldn't make it, in hand of course.

Sue and I live on a little 5 acre place on Vancouver Island. It’s got some nice woods, fields and a big garden. We’ve grown some really scary habanero peppers which I made into “Dougies Humiliator Sauce” . We keep some around for those special people in need of some humility. I’ve got a workshop here and build nice wood kitchens and do a bit of boat finishing work as well. We’ve raised three kids here and have a fourteen year old grandson who comes for a weekend now and then. The kids and I are “Canankees” now. We’ve done a lot of skiing and snowboarding over the years. They call me “grey on a tray”. We keep a forty foot motor sailer down at Maple Bay and do a lot of cruising around the gulf Islands and the West Coast, gathering clams and oysters, catching crabs and prawns and the odd fish. We like Cedric the autopilot and Nobletech the navigator. Nothing points upwind quite like a diesel and we consider the sails are mainly for emergency use. Last fall we took off on a six month trip around the world (not on the boat). Figuring it’s best to do places like India before we get too old and crotchety to enjoy it. Flew to Hong Kong, Bangkok, Delhi, Paris, London, NY and home. Travelled with our packpacks on trains and buses throughout SE Asia, India and Nepal. What a great friendly part of the world we saw. We were in Laos for the Tsunami, but had friends who barely survived it. Sorry I can’t make the reunion but it’s nice to hear what people have been up to. Love to all, Doug Darlington PS What’s with Bush, eh?

40 years in a few sentences (is that what life comes down to?) Graduated from Connecticut College, marrried, followed my husband to the Detroit area, and yes I guess love is blind because had I looked I might not have gone to Detroit! Took a long time to have kids, and enjoyed the life of DINKs with sailing and traveling. Moved a few times, am now in RI as a widow, ready to start a whole new phase of life kidless (last one is a college freshman) and spouseless, enjoying "freedom!" See you Saturday.

After a BA in history from Carnegie-Mellon Univ. I spent a year in Italy (Florence) at Pius XII Institute for Graduate Study of the Arts studying art history. Upon my return to the US I worked in NYC in art galleries. I left NY when I married Bert Lederer (CHS ’63) and moved to the Boston area. I worked at the DeCordova Museum heading their Corporate Membership Program where I became to really enjoy the business aspect of what I was doing. So, when we moved to LA I went to UCLA and got a MBA. When we returned to the east coast (Rhode Island) I became a banker…a radical departure from my earlier endeavors. Then there was the period of my life as a stay-at-home-mom until our son, Jacob, went to boarding school. I spent the next 2 years as student at Johnson & Wales Univ. earning a degree in baking and pastry arts. That led to my having a custom order small pastry business and teaching home bakers. I gave up the business, but continue to teach, write, food style and test for others. At the same time I have begun working at RI School of Design as the coordinator for the lifestyle and culinary courses in their continuing ed. Dept. Regretfully, a situation has arisen and I need to be in RI early Sunday AM, so I will be missing our 40th ….but look forward to seeing some of you at the 50th!

Hi classmates---After CHS I went to school in Philadelphia where I met Dorian (now married for 31 years) and we moved to Boston and then to NYC before settling down in Chappaqua, NY. Parenting three teen age boys was a real challenge and we are now blessed with three healthy and very interesting young men (Jacob-26, Asher-22 and Ben-22). I enjoy my organizational consulting work and still love traveling and Bob Dylan and skiing. I'm beginnning to think about the passage from 50's to 60's and look forward to finding out how others are approaching this transition. See you this weekend!!!

Hi everyone, Sorry I can't come to the reunion. I'll try to pack 40 years into a few sentences. After CHS I went to art school at BU for 2 years and then I spent 2 years at NYU art school from where I graduated. I thought I might be an Art Historian and I went to Hunter and completed everything but my thesis. Marriage and travel intruded on my education. I got married and lived in New York, Lincoln, Nebraska, Paris, back to New York and finally to Poughkeepsie where I still reside. The marriage ended but I have two wonderful children, Matthew age 27, who works at UBS and Jessica, age 24 who is a graphic designer in Morristown and lives in Hoboken. I had to earn a living after my divorce, so I went back to school and became a Social Worker. I have worked in Special Education for 17 years as a school social worker. I met a wonderful man 14 years ago. Life has been good. Hope you all have a wonderful time.

After leaving CHS, I got a BA in Art Ed. at Montclair State and taught at Iselin Jr. High. Soon after I moved into an old farm house on Rte 10 in Livingston with a bunch of hippies. To get an idea how much they welcomed us to the neighborhood, I got busted for selling clothes on Sunday at our tag sale to raise money for the "Dirdie Birdies" jug band. By 1976, I was craving privacy and moved to an old carriage house on "Round Valley Ranch" in Lebanon. My buddies started migrating West as well, and we rented ½ of a Victorian house in Flemington and started a cooperative Art Gallery, "Lake of Dreams". When we were done with that we rented a space in Lambertville and created "The Life Center", a cooperative holistic health center. In 1980 I bought a little house in Glen Gardner and quit my job to teach classes and practice hypnotherapy. Soon, I met Jim Mateer, we got married and moved to Western MA in 1982. Jim and I bought an old gas station/country store where I still practice acupressure massage and counseling. After 10 years Jim decided life having a job was too stressful. He left to "live on the road ". I’ve put a lot of energy into community building here in the Pioneer Valley, helping grow our food co-op, producing a health show on local radio and then community TV. Since this May, I ended a LTR, and my Dad passed away as well as, my dear friend, from Montclair State, Helen Cruise. I’m now spending most of my time helping Helen’s kids dispose of her estate and helping my Mom downsize into a Condo. I hope I can make it to the reunion, I’m looking forward to life getting a little "lighter".

After graduating from Lehigh with a journalism degree I moved to New York City where I began a career in advertising, marketing and sales that has spanned over 30 years. Moved to Edgemont/Scarsdale where I've lived for the past 20 years. In the early 80’s I was the director of marketing for the XIV Olympic Winter Games, which were held in Sarajevo. Great experience. For the past twenty years I have worked for TeleRep, a division of Cox Communications. While my professional career has been rewarding what really makes me happiest is my family. I met the love of my life, Sara, in 1971 and we’ve been married for 32 years. Sara taught for many years and now works part time at Neiman Marcus. We have two great kids, Rick, 30, and Katie, 24. They both live in NYC. Rick, University of Michigan class of ‘97, owns a co-op on the Upper East Side and commutes to Stamford, where he is a director with UBS. He and the love of his life, Gabbi, recently got engaged and are planning to be married next summer. Katie, Emory University class of ‘03, lives in Greenwich Village and is currently a media planner at OMD, a division of Omnicom. Much of whatever spare time I have is spent playing golf, an addiction I picked up a few years ago. Thanks to Hal, Tommy, Audrey and Ellen for their time in helping to organize The Event.. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone next week.

Doesn't sound as exciting as some of your past 40 years but---- Since 1970 I've been very happily married to my still wonderful husband, Drew Tully. Between teaching jobs, I took 12 years off to raise our kids, and so in May 2006 I will have the 25 years I need to retire. We're so fortunate that our 3 sons ages 30, 28, and 26 each graduated from college on time, have good jobs, and bought their own home within one hour drive from us. We're also lucky that my sister, Karen, lives so close to us and so does my mom. We love the ocean and spend every summer in Seaside Heights. We are presently building a home in North Myrtle Beach and will spend our winters there. Soon we will downsize our house and 2 acre property. An active adult 55 and over communmity in NJ or very close by sounds good to us. Any suggestions?

I came to France in '89 to write a book on the wines and foods of the Loire and I'm still here. (This, after having been an anti-war and civil rights activist, which led me to become a lawyer ...) Anyway, I'm currently writing a comprehensive guide to French wine and have a tight deadline. So I can't wander too far away from my ibook or from a French wine region. It's at the Tryall Club about 20 minutes west of Montego Bay... it's a slice of heaven...great golf, tennis, beach, house with pool and staff and will also be for rent. It's just the most divine place and I'm willing to share it ! That's all for now...to be continued next weekend. Harvey Cohen and Pat Leardo I will be looking for you!

We have one son, Ryan, who is married to Maggie and they are expecting our first grandchild on February 2nd, 2006. I cannot wait for this new chapter to begin. I have been in the insurance and investment financial planning arena for almost 35 years, and my son joined me in business two years ago and that has been working out well. My wife and I have had a wonderful 35 + years of marriage, and look forward to many more years ahead. Life has been basically very good, and we are very lucky. I have kept in touch with a few of our classmates during the years, but do look extemely forward to seeing everyone. See you next week, Marvin

Hi everyone. Greetings from Northern Virginia. First, thank you to Hal for taking the bull by the horns and turning what likely would have been a ho hum reunion with few people in attendance, to, at the minimum a ho hum reunion but with many old friends and acquaintances present which will, as a consequence, make this anything but ho hum, especially if the Vodka is any good. Also, thank you T. Bass, Audrey and Ellen for getting caught up in the excitement and giving your time to our reunion. As for me, it’s hard to condense 40 years – there been many ups but some significant downs as well: Lehigh, Georgetown Law and a solo legal practice in DC and Northern Virginia for nearly 33 years; with an emphasis on representing bad people doing bad things (criminal defense) and good people acting badly (divorce). Perhaps based upon my professional experiences, I have managed to stay out of jail and out of divorce court – married to the same wonderful women for 34+ years. We had three boys, one of whom, sadly, has died. Two daughters-in-law, but no grandchildren (did get a puppy yesterday). Have lost my hair, but found a beard as well as 50 pounds. Had coronary by pass surgery in 1989 at the tender age of 42, but still don’t exercise like a should. I do expect to make it to my 40th high school reunion. Cool.

Hi everyone! I too have finally gotten the courage up to write this slice of life. Here goes! “Attended” Emerson College for one and a half years. it didn’t start out too well, as they still had “hazing” for Freshman. Guess who was one of my“Hazing Masters?” Henry Winkler ..... who was leading us in some pretty weird excersises...like rolling pennies with our nose or something. So I said to Henry “This is INSANE! ”As well as some other expletives, the equivalent of “bite me!” (actually it was quite a speech, but I can’t remember it )and spent that week hanging out in Harvard Square with my roommate. I met my husband one wild wintry night when same roommate and I drove to Goddard College to see her friend David. We’ve been together ever since......which is more or less the story. We lived in East Cambridge (Mass.) for several years. I picked up some courses at Boston University, and studied silkscreen at the Brattle Center for the Arts....okay, I did drop out, tune in and turn on, didn’t anyone else? We moved to Southern New York in the seventies, living in a cottage in the woods. I worked in Title VII as Community Organizer for WIC program as well as Gardens For Nutrition (Community Gardens) establishing several sites. I then opened “Winterberry Studios” in “79 and started to sell my Silkscreen Graphics at Outdoor Art Shows throughout New England. I’ve been a working artist ever since ( about twenty six years. ) I changed my medium to oil painting in the Impressionist style (my real love) and this year has been my best to date. My husband, David is a Teaching Naturalist for many schools in the area, as well as lecturer on Native American History ( He does not sugar coat it!) He is also wetlands Inspector for the Townships of Carmel Garrison ,&Cold Springs NY. We live on a hilltop overlooking the Hudson River and have a large organic garden (temptation for many deer and woodchucks.) To all of the “beat” crowd who attended parties at my house senior year as well as old friends from Fielding School and Emerson Cronies....Can’t wait to see you!

After reading a number of entries, I got the guts to write this blurb. After CHS, burned my bra at Washington Square Park while attending NYU.Worked on Bleeker Street making jewelry and looking very hip in the sixties! At graduation, got a job teaching elementary school in Harlem. Met my husband, very straight laced accountant at one of the big four, and got married in 1976. We have two great kids that worked harder in high school than I did. Jason, who is 25 just graduated from Cornell Law practicing Intellectual Property in New York. Our daughter, Andrea, is 23 and working for a production company in Chelsea. I have been teaching pottery to kids for 18 years now. It is very mellow and I wouldn't have done anything differently. Our shetland sheepdog, Lacie, has replaced the kids and we now, after settling the kids in their New York apartments, will hopefully have time for ourselves!!Looking foward to seeing everyone!!

Subject:Hi folks, count me in for Saturday night. Hope to see you there. . .
For the Rogue Reunion: I'll be coming by car from Upper Manhattan with my husband, Paul Roth. It's hard to compress 40 years into a blurb but here goes. . . The basics: Paul and I have two sons: Peter, a journalist (29) from Paul's first marriage (his first wife,Joy is deceased) and Scott(13), our son together, an eighth grader at Ethical Culture Fieldston School (ECFS). We live in Castle Village (that's our retaining wall that fell on the West Side Highway, my apologies if you live in the area. . ) I'm now working as the Grants Officer for a local college. Before that was Development Director for a few NYC nonprofits; and before that was PR person for a divison of NYC gov.. . that gig lasted, in various forms, over 20 years, from Lindsay through Beame, Koch, Dinkins and "retiring" under Giuliani. . .(That's where I met Paul, who was Dep. Commissioner for the City's Medicaid program; he's now an administrator at the Visiting Nurse Service of New York) Creatively, I've done some writing and some art along the way, though frankly not much recently . . . edited a book in the 70's of women writers, ran a poetry series briefly at EAR INN, lived for lots of years in the Village, picked up BA/MA degrees in Eng. at NYU. . . You get the drift. . .Hope to fill you in more when I see you. There are many rogues and regulars I'd like to catch up with... you know who you are. . . All the best, Kathy

I think my "test message" went through so I will try again with the real thing... I am looking forward to seeing everyone in less than 2 weeks. Life since CHS has been good to me. My three parents are all reasonably well and active and I have a wonderful (second) husband, Dan and two daughters, Elizabeth, 24 and an emergency room nurse, and Mollie, 22 and a college student. My career is in the field of reproductive medicine, as a counselor, consultant and writer. In my free time, I write freelance articles on all sorts of subjects, run, walk and swim.

I'm living in West Palm Beach and recovering from Hurricane Wilma. Before moving to Florida, I taught school in Westfield. I met my husband in Karate class and we celebrated 30 years of marriage this past summer. We have two sons, David working on his PHD at the University of Denver and Brian, who works for the Palm Beach Gardens Recreation Department. I have been an elementary teacher here for 17 years. I just visited my family in N.J. so I won't be able to attend the reunion. I also have to make up all the days we are missing because of the hurricane clean-up.

Still feel Maplewoodian though. Looking forward to seeing all of you, but I would espec. love to see (for specific reasons) Merry Jo MacKinnon and Peter Mercuro -- and here's a special PS to Jack Heinowitz:

It feels so bizarre to be excited about flying back to New Jersey for our 40th reunion in less than two weeks. Immediately after high school graduation, I made a beeline out of the suburbs. I spent the next decade in the New Brunswick area: got my BA in English/Art from Douglass, got a quick MA in English from SUNY-Stony Brook, returned to the Brunswick area to teach English at Middlesex County College for the next decade or so. In the late 70's, I emigrated out of Jersey altogether, and spent 3 hedonistic years taking in the night-blooming jasmine, lemon and avocado and palm trees in Santa Monica and beachcombing in Venice. Having used up LA, I moved up to San Francisco, where I have lived for about 23 years. Recently, I got my MFA in Creative Writing from Mills College. Two years ago, I achieved my lifetime career-goal: I retired! I am now FREE, writing poetry, making sculpture, doing a bit of part-time tutoring, living a happy and healthy little life with my dachshund Frankie and my view of San Francisco's Twin Peaks, and all my new possibilities. When I learned of the sad death this year of my best friend from high school, Cindy Rigas, I grew interested in reconnecting with you guys (as we say in California). I am especially looking forward to seeing Patti Gordon, Mel McDavit, the Cooper twins, Bobby Shulman, Judy Hochman, Nancy Fine, and more. Also, I have been trying to find out if Jo McFarland is still alive and, if so, how I can contact her to tell her how formative she was in my life as a writer/artist. Save the last jitterbug for me.

I hope that this note finds everyone in good health and content. I married Stephen Cowen (CHS '61) in 1967, transferred from Rutgers and followed him into the U.S. Public Health Service stationed in Cincinnati (it beat Saigon!). I graduated from the University of Cincinnati and attended Temple Law School while Stephen was getting his MBA at Wharton; he is a former partner of Leonard Stern at Hartz Mountain and continues as a real estate developer and hockey team owner. We have two sons, Aaron (33; married) and Andrew (30; married). They are both Wharton and MIT graduates and are partners at hedge funds in NYC. I am the senior partner at Cowen, Jacobs & Rothman, a law firm in Hackensack. My family has resided in Tenafly for 31 years. I have warm memories of many of my CHS classmates and look forward to seeing everyone.

Nov. 13 at 3 pm there will be a concert featuring me & my stuff and some other vocalists and instrumentalists, and 100% of the proceeds are going to Katrina Relief -- I really hope that some of you will come to the Baird Center in South Orange at 3 pm on Sunday of our weekend, catch up a tiny bit with my music, and help this worthy cause! I will bring pictures of my babies (one grandson, two Shih Tzus) to the reunion and I am hoping there will be a piano there too. Love to all!

After CHS I entered the automobile business. I was a sales represenative for thirty years during which time I sold just about every domestic brand there is (or was)! Retired from sales in '95 and began writing about automobiles and became an Automotive Journalist, having written many published articles in the Star Ledger Newspaper as well as various automotive-related magazines. I even penned a book, for which I won the prestigious "Golden-Quill Award". Married for the first (and only) time at 36; Karen & I have one son. Matt is a Sr. at Rider University in Princeton in the C.P.A. program. We live in a big old house in Bloomfield (NJ) with NO pets, and are "empty nesters" as they say, but with 6 highly collectible cars in the garage, and one "on the way" ~ Karen says, "Sandy's pregnant...again"

Hi Everyone, Graduated with a BA in education, taught 3rd grade for five years, found out I disliked kids and quit. Oh yes, in between hating kids and working on a new resume, I got married. Got an MLS at Rutgers, worked at several local libraries, then pulled up stakes and moved to Phoenix area in 1979. Been here ever since--now live in Scottsdale. Was acquisitions librarian at the State Library until I got bored, then went into freelance writing. I write essays, profiles and features for national magazines--you can google me and read if you're so interested. You guessed it--no kids but three dogs and a cat. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion in November!

Hey, I am really sad to miss the reunion this time, but hello to all! Since '65, I graduated Penn and NYU Law and headed straight to California. Was a prosecutor for a couple of years, found my way and became a public defender for more years and now practice consumer law for the California Dept. of Justice. Married and had 2 wonderful boys, divorced for 15 years while I changed my first name and raised the scholar/football players. They both coach now and one is teaching high school at his alma mater as well. Once they were in college, I met my great love right in my office. Married again and we live happily in a great old house with creeks, trees and waterfalls in Berkeley. Children live within "visiting"distance, one married, no grandkids. David and I ski and landscape, and then hunt for warm places where we scuba dive and snorkel, and play golf. Knees said "no!" to tennis a few years back.
